A CO2 jet is the white column that shoots up at the drop in a festival set or blasts across a stage as a player runs out. It is loud, cold, instant and gone in seconds, which is exactly why crowds react to it. Laser Saga supplies CO2 jets including our own LS-CRYO units and Magic FX jets, with cylinders, hoses and crew.
Also called: CO2 cannon, cryo jet, CO2 blast, CO2 blaster, cryo cannon, CO2 gun, CO2 fog jet
A CO2 jet releases liquid carbon dioxide from a cylinder through a valve. As it leaves the nozzle it expands and cools, forming a dense white plume that can rise several metres before it vanishes. The effect is controlled by DMX, so each blast can last a fraction of a second or longer, alone or in a chase across a row of jets. There is no fire involved; the gas is the same CO2 used in drinks.

On impact moments: a bass drop, a goal or walkout, a reveal, a stage entrance, the climax of a dance number. CO2 also cools the crowd for a split second, which is part of why it works so well in hot outdoor venues and packed clubs.
Concert and festival stages, DJ booths, nightclubs, arenas, stadium tunnels and runways. Jets can point up, or be angled across a stage. We also use handheld CO2 guns for performers and hosts. Venues need space for cylinders and safe hose runs, and indoor rooms need enough ventilation for the amount of CO2 planned.
CO2 is very cold at the nozzle and displaces oxygen in confined, poorly ventilated spaces, so we limit the number and length of bursts indoors, keep cylinders secured upright, and keep jets away from faces at close range. Venues and civil defence may ask for a method statement. This is general guidance only.

Our own LS-CRYO CO2 jets and Magic FX CO2 Jets cover upward columns, angled stage blasts and booth effects. For hosts and performers we can add handheld CO2 guns. Jets connect to standard siphon cylinders, so we plan the cylinder count from your cue sheet and keep spares on site for long sets.
We plan positions and cylinder quantities from your cue list, deliver and connect on show day, test with the venue, then fire live from our console or on timecode with lasers, lighting and confetti. We plan cylinder quantities and swaps as part of the job.
Typical jets reach several metres; the height depends on the unit, the cylinder pressure and the burst length. We match the jet to your ceiling or stage.
It depends on burst length. As a rough guide, short hits use far less gas than long blasts, so we plan cylinders from your cue sheet rather than by guesswork.
Yes, by lighting the plume with stage lights, so the column turns the colour of the moment.
Used in short bursts with proper ventilation, yes. We plan the quantity to the room size and ventilation.
Yes, the two are often fired in the same cue. See confetti and streamer cannons.
